AppRadio 2 has cut a few features that are present in AppRadio |
3. Sound Equalizer: AppRadio had a 12-Band Graphic Equalizer which could be tweaked to fit your personal need. AppRadio 2 only has a 5-Band Graphic Equalizer and if you're an audiophile you'd prefer the 12-Band tweaker.
2. Customizable Steering Wheel Controls: I liked this feature on my AppRadio because I could change what any button on my Steering Wheel did, to whatever I liked. For example, I had the 'Left Arrow' and 'Right Arrow' button programmed to 'Answer' and 'Hang Up' a call (my steering wheel controls didn't have those buttons). With AppRadio 2 these controls cannot be customized. Bummer!
AppRadio's customizable steering wheel controls are missing in AppRadio 2 |
So has anyone tried out the Android connection? How different is the experience?
ReplyDeleteThe Android Connection Kit isn't available for purchase yet. Shipping delay.
DeleteIf you have a HDMI phone like the Razr (or maxx) can you simply connect with an HDMI cable? It looks like the $100 kit is just an HDMI cable and a USB for power. If I already have a power wire in my car, can I just hook an HDMI into the AppRadio 2 unit? Seems silly to spend $100 on that, and it's not even available.
ReplyDeleteYes I believe you can as I was able to use a MHL to HDMI adaptor for my Galaxy Nexus. Then for power I used the USB plug that the iPhone cable has.
DeleteU can just use HDMI the kit is a waste of money all it is it a HDMI and an HDMI extender. If u have a car chager u don't need the usb then. Save the money and buy some apps
DeleteI think you are being a little bit harsh here. As far as the equalizer goes if you are an audiophile you have a four channel amp as well as a separate amp for the sub woofer. In addition you have crossovers on your speakers which means you can tune to your liking without a 12 band equalizer. The steering wheel controls are a bummer but not even close to a deal breaker and the Micro SD slow if all that was done through that was the updates you will most likely be able to do them through your phone over the connection wire. If those are your only three gripes then you need to be a little bit nicer about this.
ReplyDeleteI'm curious why Pioneer choose to interface via HDMI, which I view as a HD audio and video interface, rather than USB, which is a more general purpose device communication bus. Does anyone have any thoughts on this? I have an Android phone, but it does not have HDMI, so I am out of luck, until I upgrade my phone. I would have though they would want to have the broadest base of phone compatibility to have a larger addressable market...
ReplyDeletedoes anyone know if pioneer will make a new iphone cable for the app radio if ther new iphone comes out and they do the 19pin connection instead of 30?
ReplyDeleteHi guys, Where do I go to find the EQ ? I did the software update and can't find it !!! Please help !!! Thanks in advance...
ReplyDeleteHas anyone tried rooting the appradio 2 to allow custom button control, 12 band eq, and maybe even multi input through the hdmi port. There is a lot that can be done here if someone has the knowledge to do it.
