'Hey Siri' Works Without Being Connected To Power On iPhone 6s

Apple has packed a lot of new features in their latest iPhones. A lot of the features were demoed during the keynote last month but obviously all the new featured could not be covered. With time, many new bits of information regarding the capabilities of the new iPhones are coming to light.

We also know that iOS 9 has added marked improvements to Siri. Apple's latest mobile OS was released earlier this month. One Siri feature, however, is exclusive to the newer iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus.

'Hey Siri'

Many of you will be familiar with the 'Hey Siri' feature which allows you to activate the voice assistant on your smartphone without long-pressing the home button. You just need to say 'Hey Siri' and she's ready to listen to your commands. The only caveat is, your iPhone needs to be connected to a power source.

But Apple has included 'Hey Siri' in the new iPhone 6s and 6s Plus, with an added feature. 'Hey Siri' works on those devices even when not connected to power.

You have to activate 'Hey Siri' in Settings for this to work. Just head over to Settings --> General --> Siri, turn on 'Hey Siri' and give it a shot. You will need to setup your phone to learn the tone of your voice so the feature can work better.

The feature also works on the Apple Watch and doesn't need a power source.

Issues

There have been instances where users have complained that even though you setup 'Hey Siri' by using your own voice, it still gets activated with other voices. To take this a step further, the feature could be used to activate Siri via your car radio, like in this Toyota safety campaign.

Also, having 'Hey Siri' activated to work while not being connected to power has got to affect battery life, right? Your iPhone just sits there listening for those two magic words. I could be wrong though.

The best part

'Hey Siri' is very handy while driving. Whether you have your iPhone plugged in or not, being able to talk to the voice assistant without touching your phone is great for safety.
