Pandora Radio Version 5.0 Adds New Features Including iOS 7 Functionality

The music streaming service Pandora Radio is receiving tough competition from the newly launched iTunes Radio these days. In a possible move to compete better, developers have updated the app to version 5.0 and added a few new features.

Below is a complete list of what's new in this version. Most iPhone features have been added to the iPad version too. A small feature update to the Android version is also mentioned below.

App description from the App Store

Pandora Radio (Version 5.0)

- The features you love on iPhone are now available on iPad. Add variety to your stations, view thumb history, and see track lyrics
- New upgraded look and feel for iOS 7
- Just swipe to explore without interrupting your music. The new third pane takes full advantage for your iPad, making it easier than ever to find new artists and tracks.

Version 5.0 has not changed the interface on the AppRadio though. Even the fonts have stayed the same.

I like the variety feature which allows you to diversify your stations. But this has to be accessed directly on the iOS device. There is no way of adding variety or even new stations from the AppRadio itself. I guess it makes sense because they probably don't want people to fiddle around trying to type in artist names while driving.

Pandora Radio works fine with iOS 7. The app icon is new as you can see above. You can download this latest version from the App Store today.

The Android version of Pandora has recently added compatibility with NissanConnect. NissanConnect is Nissan's in-car entertainment system. With this new functionality you can now control your music using Nissan's touch screen or steering wheel controls in select Nissan vehicles. Full details about NissanConnect are available at NissanUSA.com.
