Tesla's Worst Engineers Good Enough For Apple Says Elon Musk
After months of having their engineers poached away by Apple, Tesla Motors CEO Elon Musk is hitting back saying Apple hires people Tesla fires. Musk didn't hold back, commenting on Apple's car project, the Apple Watch, and even gave Apple a nickname in his interview with German newspaper Handelsblatt.
According to the interview, Musk said about Apple, "They have hired people we've fired," and "We always jokingly call Apple the Tesla Graveyard. If you don't make it at Tesla, you go work at Apple. I'm not kidding."
When asked about Apple's Project Titan, Musk indicated Tesla isn't threatened by a potential Apple Car. He said, "it is good that Apple is moving and investing in this direction. But cars are very complex compared to phones or smartwatches."
Although these recent jabs at Apple are understandable, just this past May, Musk had said it would be "great" if Apple entered the car business. But since then, plenty of Tesla engineers have left to join Apple which may be the reason for the change in his tune.
