Ferrari, Mercedes-Benz, And Volvo To Get 'iOS in the Car' Next Week

Apple's "iOS in the Car" was announced at WWDC 2013 last summer. The tech mogul has reportedly managed to get more than just a few car manufacturers aboard to integrate the technology in their vehicles. We were supposed to see cars with "iOS in the Car" this year although that hasn't happened so far - in fact, not until next week.

According to a report on the Financial Times, car-makers Ferrari, Mercedes-Benz and Volvo will help launch the first cars with "iOS in the Car" at the Geneva Motor Show next week.

"iOS in the Car" is different from just an iPod hookup that plays or streams music to your car's speakers. It will consist of a dedicated interface (like the one Apple showed off at WWDC 2013) with various iOS features like maps, music control, Siri and phone calls.

All these controls will be available on the car's dashboard screen and accessing these won't require you touching your iPhone. The iPhone will more than likely have to be connected via a cable and Bluetooth.

The "iOS in the Car" interface Apple showed last year looked clean cut and uncluttered. Apple's independent entry into the car entertainment industry bodes well for consumers. Interestingly, Google has also announced plans of entering the car entertainment playing field at CES earlier this year.

So if you want the earliest look at Apple's "iOS in the Car" all you have to do buy that Ferrari you've always wanted. That's all it takes!
