Two More Local Radio Stations Added To CarPlay - 94.9 The Vibe & NASH FM 93.1

A total of three local radio stations have been added to CarPlay in the last few days. Following 1700 The Champ, which I wrote about moments ago, two other stations join the list - 94.9 The Vibe & NASH FM 93.1.

Here are some additional details and CarPlay screenshots.

Both stations are developed by AirKast, Inc., the developers behind some of the most popular radio station apps in the App Store including 1700 The Champ and WUUQ Radio (both CarPlay compatible).

94.9 The Vibe

This station is based in Salt Lake City, Utah and was just recently launched. The Vibe plays classic hip hop. Here is the App Store description...

94.9 The Vibe - CarPlay Screenshots

Like the other two radio station apps, 94.9 The Vibe is barebones in CarPlay. The app behaves almost similarly to the other two apps. A video ad plays when you first launch the app on your iPhone, followed by the station beginning to stream live.

The currently playing radio show shows up on the Now Playing screen in CarPlay. The main menu is blank and does not allow accessing any on-demand content like the iPhone app does.

Here are some details about the other CarPlay compatible local radio station app, NASH FM 93.1...

NASH FM 93.1

This might sound like a repeat of the previous apps but the App Store description is identical for all the three apps with only the name being different. NASH FM 93.1 is a local station out of Detroit, MI and plays the latest country hits.

As mentioned before, this app is also developed by AirKast, Inc. Here is the App Store description...

NASH FM 93.1 - CarPlay Screenshots

You guessed right! NASH FM 93.1 has the same CarPlay interface as the other two radio station apps. The Now Playing screen displays the live programming info and the main menu screen is blank.

I may not have mentioned this, but all apps display the time remaining for each show under the show title on the Now Playing screen.

I'm guessing we'll be seeing more radio station apps in CarPlay in the coming few days. Stay tuned to see if your local station makes the cut.
