AppRadio 3 And AppRadio 2 Connection Ports Compared

Pioneer's flagship AppRadio 3 receiver will launch sometime this summer with a few improvements over its existing AppRadio 2. The new product will come in two models with one having a DVD/CD drive. How different is the newer generation device going to be from AppRadio 2 though? Will the differences make the newer models worth purchasing? Answers to these questions will be found in the coming few weeks as we learn more about AppRadio 3. Here's the first comparison between the two generations; Connection ports.

As you can see (click on the image to enlarge), there's not a lot of difference between the two models. The only difference I can see is the USB port is going to be on a cable arising directly from the AppRadio 3. Previously the USB connection used to be on the iPhone connection cable along with the 30-pin connector. AppRadio 3 will have the same connections as AppRadio 2. Maybe the new USB port being separated from the iPhone connection cable will be used exclusively for firmware updates.
