Video Shows Pebble Watch Controlling An AppRadio 2

I came across this interesting video showing a Pebble watch controlling music playback on an AppRadio 2. The video was posted on YouTube a while ago by user "Dean Barrett". Watch it below.

For those of you who aren't familiar with Pebble, it is a recently launched 'smartwatch' which has made a lot of news in the tech world. The watch started as a Kickstarter project. The developers behind the project managed to raise over 10 million dollars from enthusiastic backers, a Kickstarter record. The watch is highly customizable and works by connecting to a smartphone via Bluetooth.

Once connected to a smartphone the watch can work with a variety of apps. For example it can work as a GPS for bikers and runners tracking distance and time and using the app to log progress. This is just one of the many things Pebble does. Full details can be found on Pebble's website.

Since the watch uses Bluetooth to connect to the smartphone it works as a remote for controlling music, like any other Bluetooth handsfree device. Through this method it appears as if Pebble is controlling the AppRadio 2 directly in the video when it is actually connected to the phone and changing tracks there. The use of this functionality for AppRadio 2 users is questionable because a steering wheel remote essentially does the same thing but by directly being connected to the car stereo.

If at some point there are apps that work with both, the AppRadio and Pebble, then it will interesting to see what happens. Anyways, here's the video…
