With The Apple iPhone Event Done, What's Next For CarPlay?

So today's Apple iPhone event is over with no mention of CarPlay or a potential official release date in the aftermarket. Pioneer's website still says "coming this summer." The firmware update is MIA and who knows where the hints lie for a possible ETA.

The next relevant date to keep an eye on is coming up next week though.

September 17 is the day when iOS 8 will become available for download for a wide range of devices. These include the iPhone 6/6 Plus/5/5S/5C, iPad Air, iPad 2 onwards, and iPad Mini (with and without retina).

One of the few rumors floating around regarding CarPlay is that maybe Apple is working on a major improvement for the software with iOS 8. That is, making it work wirelessly. Hopefully, that's causing the current delay in delivery across the board, mainly on Pioneer's NEX receivers.

So we shall hope and wait for September 17 to roll by. The firmware update has 10 odd days of summer left to keep up to its (ever-changing) promise.
