Your Old iPhone 6 Cases May Fit The New iPhone 6s

If you're planning to upgrade to a brand new iPhone 6s later this month and own an iPhone 6 at the moment, your current case may be in luck. According to Apple's website, the new iPhone 6s is not much different from the old iPhone 6 as far as dimensions go.

The iPhone 6s Plus is also very marginally different from the iPhone 6 Plus. Check out these dimension comparisons below.

Apple has historically caused headaches for accessory manufacturers by changing designs drastically. Or maybe not, actually. Different dimensions mean new third-party accessories and that may be a good thing for those companies.

Here's the comparison...

iPhone 6s: 138.3 x 67.1 x 7.1 (in millimeters)
iPhone 6: 138.1 x 67.0 x 6.9 (in millimeters)

As you can see, the difference is very minimal - less that 2/10ths of a millimeter. The new iPhone 6s is a little bigger all around.

As far as the iPhone 6s Plus goes...

iPhone 6s Plus: 158.2 x 77.9 x 7.3 (in millimeters)
iPhone 6 Plus: 158.1 x 77.8 x 7.1 (in millimeters)

Again, the difference is very little.

So your old iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus cases may still fit their new counterparts. In fact, if you head over to the Apple Online Store, and click on iPhone 6 compatible cases, you will be shown cases for the the new iPhone 6s. Take a look...

You can always give it a try when your new hardware arrives and upgrade if necessary thereafter.
