New Opel Astra May Come To The United States As A Buick [Report]

General Motors announced the 2016 Opel Astra (Europe) at the Frankfurt International Motor Show last week. The updated version of the vehicle is loaded with plenty of latest tech features. The biggest inclusion for me is the option of getting Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

But the new Opel Astra will only be available in Europe. Or will it? According to a report on Car and Driver, the new Astra, or variants of it, may come to the United States as Buicks.

At its announcement, the Astra will be available in two models - a five-door hatchback and a five-door station wagon. But there are a couple of other models in the pipeline - a four-door sedan and a coupe. Those two trims are likely to come to the U.S.

Some of the tech available in the Astra include lane-keeping assist with corrective steering action, a crash-mitigation system with automatic braking, and traffic-sign recognition.

Along with Android Auto and CarPlay, the 2016 Astra will include OnStar, which offers emergency assistance and a 4G LTE Hotspot inside the vehicle.

New CarPlay and Android Auto options are always welcome in the United States!
