Apple Quietly Discontinues Gold iPhone 6 And iPhone 5s [Apple Event News]

All the fireworks at the Apple Media Event today have ended and as the smoke settles a few more details are being revealed. Apple announced two new iPhones and one new color to go with it - Rose Gold. But what Apple didn't announce is that gold options will only be available in the new iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus.

Take a look at Apple's current iPhone lineup and the color options...

Even during the keynote when Apple's Vice President of Marketing, Phil Schiller, was announcing the pricing structure for the previous generation iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, the graphic he used showed the devices only in silver and space gray. These devices were available in an additional gold color so far. But not anymore. Take a look.

Apple did announce that the iPhone 5S will be its new entry-level device and can be purchased starting at $0 down with a two-year contract on most major carriers. Pricing for the entire iPhone lineup with a two-year contract is as follows...

The new iPhones will go on preorder starting at 12:01 a.m. Pacific on September 12. The devices will go on sale on September 25.
