Another GM Recall Sets A New Record, 10% Of All Cars On The Road Affected


According to IHS Automotive, there were 253 million cars on the road at the beginning of this year. General Motor's latest recall of another 8.4 million vehicles means its single-year total is up to 27 million. In other words, more than 10% of all cars on the road this year have been recalled.

Yesterday's recall is mainly for faulty ignition switches. The record-breaking recall means the bad news for GM continues. The company is already fighting wrongful death lawsuits with a number of families for the faulty ignition switch.

Here are the vehicle's that have been recalled yesterday for the ignition switch issue...

1997-2005 Chevrolet Malibu
1998-2002 Oldsmobile Intrique
1999-2004 Oldsmobile Alero
1999-2005 Pontiac Grand Am
2000-2005 Chevrolet Impala and Monte Carlo
2004-2008 Pontiac Grand Prix
2003-2014 Cadillac CTS
2004-2006 Cadillac SRX

Other vehicles recalled for different issues are...

2011-2014 Chevrolet Cruze
2012-2014 Chevrolet Sonic
2013-2014 Chevrolet Trax, Buick Encore and Veranos for engine block power heater cord issue.

2014 Chevrolet Camaro and Impala, Buick Regal, and Cadillac XTS for a fastener that may be missing.

2007-2011 Chevrolet Silverado HD, GMC Sierra HD equipped with an auxiliary battery because a power issue can cause a fire.

2005-2007 Buick Rainier, Chevrolet TrailBlazer, GMC Envoy, Isuzu Ascender and Saab 9-7x
2006 Chevrolet TrailBlazer EXT and GMC Envoy XL for an electrical short that can disable the power door lock and window switches.

GM stock trading was halted prior to the announcement. The stock ended the day down less than 1% after it resumed trading.
