Apple Maps Is Beating Google Maps In The United Kingdom [Report]

At least one carrier in the United Kingdom just reported how Apple Maps has taken over Google Maps as a mapping option among its customers. EE, which also owns Orange and T-Mobile in the U.K., says the 4G and 3G usage data of its customers is beginning to show the trend.

Here is an excerpt from the report...
"Traffic on the new Apple Maps now represents 70% of mapping traffic on the 4G network, from 60% in the second half of 2013, taking market share from Google Maps, which is down 7ppts. This difference is even more marked over 3G where Apple Maps is up by 19ppts and Google Maps is down 15ppts."

In the United States, there have been conflicting reports that suggest Google Maps is still the number 1 maps application used. A few months ago, I posted about how Google Maps is better. What do you guys prefer?

  1. Stopped using google maps, since Apple maps is integrated all the way across the OS its more convenient for me to use, i.e. if I'm in yelp I just map it and it pulls up apple maps, or with Siri I just say were I want to go and it works, most of the time anyway. In fact I've had zero problems with apple maps, in my use its been very accurate.

  2. I stopped using Google maps simply because the task of starting a route became impossible. Seriously - Sometimes I'd stare at the screen trying to find a way to start a route. It's inconsistent as well as non-intuitive. That said, the Google Maps is much better once it's running. But, I'd rather give that up and not wrap my car around a tree trying to figure out how to use it.
