How To Take A Screenshot Of Your CarPlay Interface [How-To]

For those of you wondering how to take perfect CarPlay screenshots on your car's head unit, it is simpler than you think. You may have seen screenshots I've posted in previous posts or in CarPlay posts on other sites. This is how it's done...

With your iPhone connected to an Apple CarPlay-capable head unit like a Pioneer NEX receiver, AppRadio 4 or Alpine iLX-007, launch CarPlay. When the CarPlay interface is displayed on the head unit, all you have to do is take a screenshot on your iPhone. This is done by simultaneously pressing the home and sleep/wake button on the iPhone.

Taking a screenshot on the iPhone saves two images in your camera roll. One will be a screenshot of your iPhone's display while the other will be of the CarPlay screen displayed at the time of capture. So you can capture any displayed screen in CarPlay mode by simply taking a screenshot on your iPhone.

This works only when the head unit is in CarPlay mode. It won't work for the NEX menu on Pioneer receivers.

Go ahead and give it a shot.
