Audi's Next Generation Car Entertainment Will Involve A 10-inch Tablet [CES 2014]

We reported last week about Audi's plan of announcing an Android based car entertainment system at CES 2014. At the tech show the car company has announced that in fact they will introduce a 10.2 inch Android tablet.

The tablet won't just be one that you hook into your car's dashboard though. At the CES 2014 press conference Audi Head of Electric and  Electronics Development, Ricky Hudi, said "It (the tablet) represents the perfect combination of the latest technology from the world of consumer goods with the sturdiness and reliability from the world of cars."

Below is additional information from Audi at CES 2014.

- There was no information provided on when, how or even if the tablet will be sold. Whether separately, as an add-on or integrated in new Audi vehicles.
- The tablet will be powered by Nvidia's Tegra 40 Chipset.
- It will connect to the vehicle's Wi-Fi (Audi Connect) which will be powered by AT&T's LTE network.
- The next edition of the Audi TT will include Audi's second generation Mobile Infotainment Platform 2 and Audi MultiMedia Interface (MMI) which will feature voice search powered by Google and multi-touch gesture controls on the central dial.
