Pioneer CD-IH202 Cable Kit Now Available

Pioneer announced the iPhone 5 compatible cable kit ($60) for AppRadio Mode enabled devices at CES 2013 earlier this year. The kit is now available at various authorized Pioneer dealers across the United States. Availability in other parts of the world is unknown. I ordered my kit from my local car audio store and it got delivered today. Here's what it's all about.

CES 2013 just kicked off today and there is plenty of news pouring in from Pioneer already. The long wait for an iPhone 5 compatible solution for the AppRadio 2 is coming to an end soon. A cable has been announced that will help connect the two devices. More details are below.

AppRadio 3 To Be Announced At CES 2013?

Each year major tech companies from around the world showcase their newest products at the annual Consumer Electronics Show or CES. This year the event is being held in Las Vegas, Nevada from January 8 to 11. Pioneer will be at the event to unveil it's latest products. Their AppRadio line of products is most likely to be updated along with other Advanced App Mode supported stereos.

Do You Use Google Music And Have An AppRadio? Try gMusic!

For those that use Google Music for their music needs instead of iTunes, there is an app that you might be interested in knowing. Especially if you also happen to own an AppRadio or AppRadio 2 (or any one of the other Pioneer car stereos with Advanced App Mode). gMusic is a Google Music Player, the iOS version of which, costs $1.99 in the App Store and boasts being the only one of its kind to feature AppRadio compatibility.

CommuteWX: An AppRadio Compatible Weather App

Over the last month or so there have been a few new apps that have joined the AppRadio compatibility environment. One of those is CommuteWX. This app became AppRadio compatible on October 12, 2012. CommuteWX is a weather information app. Read along for more details.

Mike DeCaro's AppRadio Extensions is a jailbreak tweak available for the iPhone 4/4S. It adds a whole spectrum of additional functionality to the AppRadio and AppRadio 2. The latest is version 2.0 which is available through the Cydia Store. It allows full touch functionality to almost any app on the iPhone. The 2012 SEMA Show (Special Equipment Market Association) recently concluded in Las Vegas, NV. At the show, Pioneer Electronics held its first "AppRadio Hackathon" which was meant to get developers make apps that were AppRadio compatible. There were prizes to be won too, totaling over $50,000 in cash and merchandise. Well, the results are in and there were some interesting things that came out from the show.

Pioneer Posts Compatibility Charts Confirming iPhone 5 And iOS 6 Issues

Pioneer Electronics has posted compatibility charts on its website showing which features will and will not work on its car audio systems when using an iPhone 5 or an iPhone running iOS 6. Take a look at the self-explanatory charts below. Seems like Pioneer will have to find a workaround to make the iPhone 5 fully compatible with AppRadio.
