PIONEER AIMS TO ENHANCE DRIVER VISIBILITY WITH NEW NEX MODELS INCLUDING REARVIEW CAMERA

With passenger and nonpassenger vehicle backover accidents resulting each year in a significant number of injuries, including fatalities, Pioneer is bundling several of its popular NEX in-dash multimedia navigation receivers with its high performance ND-BC8 universal fit rearview camera to help consumers enhance the rear visibility of their existing vehicles, beyond what can be seen in the rearview mirror.

In addition to the included rearview camera, the Pioneer AVIC-8201NEX, AVIC-7201NEX, AVIC-6201NEX and AVH-4201NEX enable drivers to update their existing vehicles with the latest technology and connect compatible smartphones to their vehicles in a smarter and safer way. Pioneer was the first aftermarket manufacturer to offer Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™, providing basic functions consumers want to access, in a safer way that is built for in-vehicle use, including playing music, making and receiving calls, navigation, and verbally composing and sending text messages. The NEX models are built with advanced Bluetooth® functionality for convenient hands-free calling, as well as music streaming with compatible Bluetooth1 enabled devices.

The bundled ND-BC8 rearview camera features a 129-degree wide-angle view and can display detailed rearview images at resolutions greater than 300,000 pixels. The unit also features a Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor (CMOS) sensor that provides faster processing speed and lower power consumption than traditional rearview camera sensors.  The result is greater resolution and a reduction of the vertical light "smear" that commonly occurs in very bright light like direct sunlight. The CMOS sensor reduces glare during daytime use and improves low-light capability for high performance in both daytime and nighttime use. The camera’s compact size, built-in power supply and 10 meter cable offer installation flexibility and hassle-free mounting. When used with Pioneer NEX models, width and distance parking reference lines are displayed on the touchscreen to further assist the driver.

NB-BC8 Specifications
·         1/4-inch color CMOS Sensor with approximately 310,000 pixel resolution
·         Wide Angle Lens
·         Horizontal View in Degrees: 129
·         Vertical View in Degrees: 105
·         Illumination Range: Approximately .9 lux to 100,000 lux

Pioneer began offering a rearview camera input on certain in-dash receivers in the U.S. market as early as 1998, and on all NEX models since their introduction in 2014. The ND-BC8 is a universal camera and compatible with the majority of aftermarket systems available. For more information on our rearview compatible products, visit http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/Car.

The NEX bundles will be available in February with suggested retail prices of: $1,300 (AVIC-8201NEX), $1,100 (AVIC-7201NEX), $900 (AVIC-6201NEX), and $700 (AVH-4201NEX).
