Sony Will Bring CarPlay & Android Auto To Your Dashboard Soon; At A Great Price Too
One of the biggest aftermarket head unit manufacturers is finally joining the Apple CarPlay & Android Auto playing field.
Sony Electronics will soon become the latest to bring advanced smartphone integration to your car dashboard. The company made the announcement last month while introducing a brand new head unit, the XAV-AX100.
The latest scoop and additional pictures are below the break.
Details about the upcoming head unit were published in a blog post by Sony.
The XAV-AX100 will feature 55w x 4 Dynamic Reality Amp 2 and EXTRA BASS low boost circuitry with a 10-band graphic equalizer. There will be 3-pre outs allowing connectivity options to multiple amps and speaker systems.
The two main features of the double-DIN head unit are, of course, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support.
Hardware-wise, the XAV-AX100 will have a 6.4" capacitive touchscreen with a 800x480 resolution. The head unit will also have physical buttons as seen in the images above.
The suggested retail price of the head unit is quite attractive at $499.99 potentially making it one of the least expensive head units to offer both, CarPlay and Android Auto. The device is expected to go on sale by the end of November.
