EC Touch Updated To Support AppRadio One, Dropping Facebook Support

EC Touch for AppRadio is an AppRadio Mode compatible iOS app that brings together a wide range of functionality and services. Services like YouTube, Spotify and SoundCloud can be accessed from EC Touch.

AppRadio One is Pioneer Electronics' latest feature that allows users to access AppRadio Mode on its 2015 line of DVD receivers using a single USB cable from your smartphone. It eliminates the need for multiple cables or adapters.

The AppRadio app was updated by Pioneer a few days back to add support for AppRadio One and EC Touch has followed suit. The latest version 4.2 will be AppRadio One compatible. The app will also stop supporting Facebook services starting May 2015. Details are below.

AppRadio One is not available on existing AppRadios (1, 2, 3 or 4) and NEX (first and second generation) devices.

EC Touch For AppRadio And AppInCar (version 4.2) - App Store description

- Now EC Touch is compatible with Pioneer AppRadio One!

***WARNING***
Any video services will be available on AppRadio One head unit models!

- Notice for Facebook users:
The Facebook service will remain active until April 30, 2015. After this date, Facebook could not be more functional. This because of the new policy of Facebook, which no longer grants permission to read the home of its members to third parties. Those who have already purchased the single packet of Facebook, will receive in the future access to one or more services to be developed. For the remaining time, Facebook service will be granted free of charge.

- Added DSP Service:
Now you can control a powerful external sound processor directly from your AppRadio. Improve your listening experience through the Digital Sound Processor. Requires the installation of an external accessory.

- Fixed bug that caused crashes on WebRadio.

- Fixed issue with GPS on Maps and WebRadio (for iOS 8).

EC Touch was one of the first apps to be updated for AppRadio users after fixing the crash bug in iOS 8 due to the keyboard. The app works quite well in AppRadio Mode but still has issues playing certain YouTube videos. However, it's good to see the developers continually striving to improve the app by issuing updates and adding new services.

If you haven't tried out EC Touch on your AppRadio Mode/AppRadio One capable Pioneer head unit, you should definitely give it a shot.
