Apple's Patent Filings Show Possible CarPlay Enhancements And Car Remote

Apple files a lot of patent applications with the United States Patents and Trademarks Office (USPTO) each year and most of them don't see the light of day as consumer products. But every once a while, an interesting patent pops up.

Last Tuesday, the USPTO granted Apple a patent for a car remote-like device that works with CarPlay. More details are below.

Using geofences, Apple's car remote will be able to monitor and control certain functionality of your vehicle. The device will most probably pair with CarPlay using Bluetooth and will be able to lock and unlock your car.

The power of geofences can be used for other functions like remotely turning on the car's heater or cooler, unlocking the car, or even turning on the engine depending on whether your iPhone is in the car or not.

Apple has credited Sylvain Louboutin as the inventor of the car remote. You can view the patent documentation by visiting this link.
