App Update Roundup: MyPV, AUPEO! Radio [07/31/13]

Google Nexus 4 Requires SlimPort Adapter To Work With AppRadio 3


Google's latest nexus smartphone, the Nexus 4, works with AppRadio 3 but not with Pioneer's Android Kit. It requires the additional purchase of a different adapter. The Nexus 4 is not included on the AppRadio compatible list of smartphones that Pioneer released a few days ago but there are users who have reported it to work when used with this adapter…

Pioneer AVH-X8500BHS Firmware Update Makes Pandora Radio Unusable

Video Shows AppRadio 3 Working With iPhone 5 And AppEx [Jailbreak]


There has been some doubt over the jailbreak tweak, AppRadio Extensions (AppEx) working with AppRadio 3 connected to an iPhone 5. This YouTube video shows the latest version of AppEx working without any issues.

AppEx has gone open source since last week and is available for developers to work on with the help of developer Mike DeCaro. The additional functionality that the jailbreak tweak adds to the AppRadio experience is nicely showcased in the video below.

Pioneer Adds 16 More Android Phones To AppRadio Mode Compatibility List


In a media release today, Pioneer Electronics has announced it has updated its list of AppRadio Mode compatible smartphones. 16 additional Android smartphones have been added.

AppRadio Mode products included the newly launched AppRadio 3 (SPH-DA210 and SPH-DA110), AppRadio 2, AVH-X8500BHS, AVIC-X950BH and AVIC-Z150BH among others.

The updated list of phones and corresponding connection kit information is included below.

Tesla Model S - Car Dashboard Done Right! [Video]


Apart from being manufactured completely in the USA and fully electric, Tesla Motors' Model S has one feature that stands out to tech enthusiasts. It's the car's bright and sharp 17-inch dashboard display. Even the conventional analog tachymeter and speedometer has been replaced with a LCD display behind the steering wheel. Well, in a message at Avic411 Forums, Mike has announced that he is making the tweak open source which means developers can get the source code and continue developing AppEx further.

This Is What To Expect When Developing An AppRadio Compatible App


Pioneer has a website setup for app developers who wish to make their apps AppRadio compatible. The website gives developers access to Pioneer's Software Development Kit (SDK). In order to gain access to Pioneer's site your app must already be available for download from the App Store or Google Play. The process of getting the app approved by both, Apple or Google and Pioneer, can be lengthy. A patent filed and granted at the United States Patent and Trademark Office suggests that Apple might me looking to make their own in-car dashboard. The patent filing says Apple wants to replace your entire dashboard with their own touchscreen-enabled dash which will control everything from temperature to music.
