Two AppRadio 3 Models To Be Available [BREAKING]

Pioneer will launch two separate AppRadio 3 models this summer. Rumored to be available sometime in July, the two models will be SPH-DA210 and SPH-DA110. The major difference between the two will be the added feature of a DVD drive (SPH-DA210). Pricing and feature information is below.

SPH-DA210
In-Dash iPhone® and Android™ Compatible Car Receiver with 7" Capacitive Multi-Touchscreen, DVD/CD Player, Bluetooth®, MirrorLink™, and On-Screen Access to Compatible Apps
Price: $500

Price: $400

Additionally both devices will support the Siri Eyes Free feature from Apple and Google Voice for Android users. For those not familiar with MirrorLink it is a feature which allows mirroring of select Android (Samsung Galaxy S3, Note 2 etc.) or Symbian devices onto the AppRadio 3's screen while allowing full touch control. This is the most sought out feature at the moment but unfortunately iPhone users will be out of luck. Touch controls won't be available with iPhone mirroring. Connecting the iPhone 5 to AppRadio 3 will still require the CD-IH202 cable kit or an HDMI cable along with Apple's Digital AV adapter (same as required for AppRadio 2).

Streaming music over Bluetooth is finally here too. This feature has been way overdue! There won't be a need to hard-wire your phone to the AppRadio just to listen to music anymore.

If you already own an AppRadio 2 will an upgrade be worth it? I think it depends on the phone you have and if, for some reason, you still have your giant CD/DVD collection. If you have a MirrorLink supported device it might well be worth an upgrade to avail of those full touch controls for your phone. AppRadio 3 is definitely a nice upgrade if you own the first generation AppRadio (SPH-DA01 or SPH-DA02).

More details will be available as summer approaches. The exact date of availability will also be known soon. Pioneer has been quite secretive about this product because no mention was made at CES 2013. We will have to wait and see if this device irons out existing issues and is worth the price tag.

    1. Return the pioneer connector and get the mhl from samsung made for the galaxy s3. Its the only one that will work.

  5. waste of money unless you do many, many long road trips. Simple car stereo should suffice for few mintues to hour of drivings...
