iPhone 5 Compatible Cable For AppRadio 2 Is Coming Soon [CES 2013]

CES 2013 just kicked off today and there is plenty of news pouring in from Pioneer already. The long wait for an iPhone 5 compatible solution for the AppRadio 2 is coming to an end soon. A cable has been announced that will help connect the two devices. More details are below.

Although the exact date of availability hasn't been announced, Spring 2013 will bring an iPhone 5 compatible cable from Pioneer. The cable (CD-IH202 cable kit) will connect via the HDMI port on AppRadio 2 to the iPhone 5 using Apple's Lightning cable and the Lightning to Digital AV adapter. A software update to AppRadio 2 will be required (also available Spring 2013). There is no mention of compatibility with the first generation AppRadio.

Complete details are available on Pioneer's website.

Cables for Pioneer's AV line of receivers and Navigation receivers are also going to be available this Spring. More information is here.

  1. I was an AppRadio 1 user and wouldn't buy an iPhone 5 for this reason. Then someone made the decision for me and destroyed my dash to steal my radio. I felt really burned on the AppRadio the 1st time (having invested so much in apps).

    1. It's $60 and requires you to provide your own lightning to A/V adapter and lightning to USB cable.

  3. Its garbage guys. I bought it, had it installed and picked up my car today. I can tell you - Im returning it to the store for a refund in the morning. This is the absolute worst product imaginable. Iphone 5 simply works about 10 % of the time, and when it does you have to spend an hour to get things to display. Its such bogus - if you read all the specs, watch the videos, I can tell you it looks great - reality is completely different. This radio isnt even BETA worthy yet. Save your money.
