The Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) Line Shows 2012 was held in New York City on June 27 and 28 this year. Pioneer Electronics was present at the event and there is some interesting information coming out from there regarding the AppRadio line of products. The AppRadio platform has really moved slowly towards improvement but it seems like things could be fast tracked in the coming few months.

The social GPS and traffic information app, Waze, has been updated to version 22.214.171.124 yesterday. Both the iOS and Android versions of the app have received this update. Waze is AppRadio compatible through Android whereas the iOS version only works by mirroring the iPhone's display onto the AppRadio. The update has quite a few improvements and enhancements and looks like a worthy update. Here's more details.

Maybe one of our readers in France can tell us more about this story. I came across a video on YouTube from "MrBuzz118" which showcases iCoyote, an iOS app for the iPhone. The app is AppRadio compatible (both SPH-DA01 and SPH-DA100) and from the looks of it seems pretty useful. It is not available in the United States or Canada but is meant for Europe only. My knowledge of French is limited but here's the video and what I think this app might be capable of doing.

A few days ago I posted a link to a YouTube video showing an XBox 360 connected to an AppRadio 2. That video wasn't very informative. One of our readers with the YouTube channel "Bdowling91" has posted another video showing his XBox 360 connected to his AppRadio 2. The video is a little more informative. Take a look for yourself...

Update: A new version 4.7.5 has been added. This version doesn't do anything different from 4.7.4. Nevertheless, update your Extra Mile app today.
It seems like Extra Mile keeps getting updated every week. This week's update version 4.7.4 adds a few improvements to the app and fixes some bugs. According to the app's description the latest version has the following improvements:
"Improvement to the music player and navigation voice control. Phone call interruption mutes the voice & alerts."
You can download Extra Mile from the App Store today.

Apple announced details about their upcoming version of iOS at the annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC 2012) in San Francisco earlier today. iOS 6 is packed with over 200 new features and will be available this Fall. Among the few new features that were outlined at the keynote address, one stood out for me with regards to Pioneer's AppRadio.

If you have a piece of hardware that uses an HDMI connection to display to an external monitor, chances are it will work with AppRadio 2. I can think of a handful of devices that can be used this way in the car ranging from media players to gaming consoles to laptops. The only issue, however, would be to get a power source to power up some of these devices. Well, one YouTube user (n0name321) recently connected his Microsoft XBox 360 to his AppRadio 2 to demonstrate how the AppRadio 2 can be used as a display monitor. Check it out.

I've been getting quite a few questions about how to find out the exact model number of the AppRadio. Pioneer's recent firmware updates for the first generation AppRadio have caused a little confusion since two separate updates for SPH-DA01 and SPH-DA02 were released. So if you have a first generation AppRadio you can find your model number right on your device. It's probably easy to miss though.
