2012: A Year For AppRadio Advancements?
The AppRadio has been out for over 6 months now and has seen few, if any, enhancements in that time. A lot more apps are compatible with it in addition to the original 4 or 5. There is obviously things that need to change.
I think 2012 will see advancements coming. First there is CES 2012
which kicks off in Las Vegas, NV on January 10. Pioneer Electronics will be there and hopefully we will see a glimpse of what to expect. I would love to see a complete overhaul in the way the AppRadio functions. At the very least I want to have the ability to launch apps directly from the AppRadio without having to ever fumble with your iDevice while driving. Once connected, the iPhone/iPod Touch should be put away. Of course, we all want to see more compatible apps. One can never have enough! From the top of my head I'd say Sirius XM Radio should make their app compatible with a nice interface.
I know the AppRadio is a first generation device and all such products always leave room for improvement. This year is bound to have those improvements rolled out. Hopefully it won't take too long. At some point we might see a second generation device. I just hope Pioneer doesn't leave us first generation consumers hanging high and dry.
